Chapter Section

Gabriel walked briskly down the hall towards the archive. Her mind had been lost in thought that morning and she had completely lost track of time. She turned a corner and barely missed crashing into Prowl.
"Oh Prowl sir I'm so sorry I didn't even hear you coming."
"Gabriel I am glad I located you. Saves me the trouble of having to pull you off duty."
Gabriel looked at him curiously "Oh?"
"Yes. Ratchet has informed me of your current condition. So I have approved you for leave for the next week per Ratchets suggestion."
Gabriel looked at the second in command with shock. She hiked up her wings as she processed what he had said.
"No offense sir but that is hardly necessary. The pillar is in a delicate stage of download and I have to be sure that the archive is storing the information properly."
Prowl sighed but his posture didn't stiffen as Gabriel would have expected. Instead his door wings sat softly and he gave Gabriel a tender look.
"Gabriel you are a very dedicated to your work and I admire that. I also know that you have a large spark. Without question you took in a youngly who may have perished without assistance and you didn't give it a second thought. I also understand that even though you love him unconditionally he can not replace the one you lost."
Gabriel's wings drooped as her earlier distraction came flooding back to the front of her mind. Prowl placed a hand on her shoulder his smile still prominent.
"Gabriel I am not only your superior officer but I am also your friends. I can fully understand you wanting your own and I would not wish for you to risk another loss especially in trying to fulfill your duty. Ratchet explained how this first week is very important and I personally know Rinn would be more than excited to pamper her best friend as an expectant mother."
Gabriel gave a small chuckle. "Vary well but what about the calibrations for..."
Prowl took a more professional posture. "I am more than capable of overseeing the transfer process. If I run into any problem, how ever unlikely that will be. You will be the first to be contacted."
Gabriel nodded and turned to return to her quarters. But before she walked away she looked back over her shoulder.
"By the way Prowl you are a good friend."
Prowl smiled and nodded. He then turned away to return to his office.
